Hello there,
My name is Matthew but friends call me Mattie. I am an Okinawan and Mexican, Hawaiian Kingdom National raised in the greater Seattle, Washington area. I graduated from Arizona State University in Spring of 2021, having double majored in English and Philosophy (Morality, Politics and Law), and I will graduate from the same institution with my Masters in English Studies. Currently I am a substitute teacher, and I aspire to be a writer with a focus on video essays incorporating philosophical and literary analysis of various media platforms, and fiction novels.

Portfolio
The following are the written projects that I believe best demonstrate my growth as a writer, a scholar and as a person. The first four artifacts were completed for the Masters of English Studies program, and the other three were completed towards the end of my time in the Bachelor of English program. The seven artifacts vary in topic, tone and genre, but each has played an important role in fueling my desire to tell stories and to find my voice along the way.
